observation day in dental clinic 31072008

yeah! Sam and I finally get to observe in the Oya Dental Clinic. We went to ask the chance from Dr Chu, the Ketua Dentist of Sibu. Since we had no official letters from the uni with us, she only allowed us to observe one morning. Well, one morning is better than nothing.

So, we went off on Thursday morning. Sister is really really friendly and introduced us to every staff as the dentist-to-be adik-beradik. Haha, thanks to her, every staff was friendly to us as well. Sam observed Dr.Yong while i got Dr. Grace. Dr.Yong is a really nice man and is really willing to show and teach Sam every treatments he did. While Dr.Grace is a bit quiet and seemed like 'Dun come iterrupt me doing treatment' is written on her forehead.

Thursday morinng is treating outpatients. Hmm, a bit different from what we learned in lectures. A bit lali after observing what they do for the whole morning. Patients come in and out, short and long needles with different sorts of scary looking forceps come in and out as well. NO time for communicating and no time to even take a breath. To put it bluntly, it's kinda upsetting. The doctors said that a normal outpatient morning, they will have to see about 100 patients and there's no time at all to 哈拉 with the patients. Understandable la, with the shortage of dentists, and with such a high demand...
In the afternoon, it's appointments where patients come for filling, dentures. There is more time for each patient and that's more like it. hehehe! Oh, and i went to check the bottle i sent to get some teeth, i think there's one or two inside the bottle! hooray! they extract so much teeth every morning, i think i should be able to collect some.. thank god! jia you, jia you!

In the end of the day, Sister and Dr.Yong chatted with us. (Dr.Grace had went off long time.) Hmm, we asked if we can observe one more day. fri is for pregnant mummys. SIster said Dr.Asma, the dental officer in charge shouldn't be that strict about us observing as long as we din stand in the way. Dr.Yong is also encouraging us to come s well. so, we're coming for another day!! yes!!
